Nail from SU 1215

Within this stratigraphic unit, we found a total of nine nails. This one is the most well-preserved metal artifacts of the assemblage. The entirety of the nail is visible, from the head to the point. Its presence in front of the fireplace indicates the possible function of the West Room as a smith shop.

Metal button from SU 1215

An exciting piece from this stratigraphic unit was a metal button. This was a rather unique find, and a first we were not sure what it was. We could tell it was metal due to its weight and rusted appearance, but it was circular and flat. So, after observing the rusted opening in the center, we decided that it was a button.
